Notes From Our First IN PERSON Meetup
Earlier this week, I hosted the very first A Man on a Mission Meetup here in Ft. Lauderdale.
I launched the Meetup only about 7 days before and decided that the first event would be just a “Meet and Greet”.
Basically, I started this Meetup, and the first event, to test the waters to see how many guys in my area would be interested in a concept like A Man on a Mission.
Leading up to the night of the event 18 people joined the group, 8 of which RSVP’d to attend the “Meet and Greet”.
Off to a good start.
Then, on the afternoon of the event, just hours before the event was supposed to start, I got a message from one of the RSVP’ers.
He was letting me know that the coffee shop, where our event was being held, actually closed 15 minutes BEFORE our event was supposed to START.
Our event was scheduled for 615pm, but the coffee shop closes at
Well needless to say it was a total f*ck up on my part.
So after a moment of panic, I decided that a cool little Taco joint, just down the road from the coffee shop, would have to do.
I sent out a group message on Meetup, and left a comment on the group page, letting everyone know that the location for the event had changed, and hoped for the best.
To my surprise, and despite the chaos, 5 guys ended up showing up for the event.
After hosting plenty of Meetups in the past, I know that this is a better than average show-up rate, so I was pleased.
As each guy arrived we briefly introduced ourselves and ended up sitting a high-top table on the outside patio.
After all 5 guys arrived we got right into some good stuff (you know how I hate small talk right?)
The conversation was easy and the topics went deeper the longer we hung out.
We covered things like the concept of Life Design, being stuck in a corporate rut, mindsets and confidence, starting a fitness program and defining goals, and the vision for the A Man on a Mission community.
We discussed everything that this site focuses on…and it wasn’t me leading the guys into the topics.
It was them bringing up the life challenges and obstacles that they were facing.
It was pretty cool to see how the group began to interact once they realized that they were on a very similar path.
The ideas flowed, genuine advice was given and bonds were made.
We then talked a little more about my vision for A Man on a Mission and some of the awesome things I have planned for the group as we start to grow.
The feedback was great, and each agreed that this would be a very cool movement to be part of.
All in all, it was a great Meetup and I look forward to doing some EPIC SHIT with these guys (and more of you) in the future.
